Decccck the hall with . . . oh wait? No decking? No colorfully organized cookie platters? No happy Xmas music because . . . Oh no, a tickle in your throat! It started yesterday? Gurrrrrl you are going to be SICK OVER CHRISTMAS.
Ok, back to me. Relax, friend. I’m going to rock your minds with a tip that will help you get out of the cycle of illness that happens when the following conditions occur:
1. You have children.
2. It’s winter.
3. You are looking forward to something.
Bingo on each of these. Instead of raiding the Afrin closet (am I the only one?) you should do something first. No, it’s not an herbal tea at Whole Foods, or some expensive vitamin supplement.
It’s learning how to wash your hands. I can hear you now, oh ye of little faith.
“Whatevs, I wash my hands just fine. Now back to that magic pill idea . . . ”
Prevention is key when it comes to illness and if you learn the right (RIGHT) way to wash your hands you WILL see a difference. How did I discover this? One day I was watching my never-gets-sick husband lather up at the kitchen sink. This wasn’t normal hand washing, it looked like he was prepping for surgery. Slowly, it dawned on me. My slap-dash, water/soap combination wasn’t doing much, other than getting my coat wet. Ever since I made the change to properly washing my hands, I’ve gone from 4-5 colds a year to . . . da da daaaaaa . . .
Exactly one, and it only lasted like three days.
For a mom of a toddler, this is better than sleeping in. So, I give you the best Christmas gift you’ve never asked for. A tutorial below from the Mayo clinic on how to wash the right way. You’re welcome. Fa la la la laaaaaa!
